Get up, stand up! Stand up for your rights!

So, I’m being a cliche’. I’m in a Starbucks and I’m blogging. I feel dirty.

Moving on…

Life has been keeping me busy as usual. Work and play both. On the home front, My kitchen is in need of a good scrub down. I never got to it’s weekly cleaning because it took me all of last week to rearrange my living room.

In regards to my living room, I’m still adjusting, but I don’t regret it at all. There’s a significant increase in my

Geordi, his arms wide.

Geordi conspired with J and K to get me a great birthday present!
Who’s a snuggly kitty? Geordi’s a snuggly kitty!!

It’s a Sunday.

It was preceded by a Saturday.
Saturday was my Chili Day.
The chili was delicious, if I do say so myself.
The guac was pretty tasty too, thanks Alton Brown (Guacamole)! Though if I make it again, I’ll put in a little less Cayenne pepper powder.
I didn’t make the dessert, but they were good too (Fresh Berry Tart from Whole Foods).
I got my Birthday gift from J/K and I guess Geordi too. The image in the top right is one from Geordi’s first ever photo shoot. He was kittynapped while I was away for my birthday and subjected to the throngs of adoring fans.
The pictures are awesome, but now I  have to decide where to hang the framed one! Damn decisions.
I guess I can try and consult Geordi on what his opinion…
Either way, Good night!

Layla, you’ve got me my knees. I’m beggin…

Another birthday has come and gone. I’m anther full year older, and just a little bigger.

This year, I celebrated my birthday up north at my Mom’s house. I realized that even though I miss the snow and hills, my life is easier without being burried under 200-300″ a season. What I do need more of (besides cowbell) is regular snowboarding. I’ve used my current board less than a handful of times, and iirc, I bought it in spring of 2006. Needless to say, I can hear it crying in the closet sometimes.

Hangin’ ‘round, downtown by myself, and I’ve had too much caffeine…

And I was thinkin’ ‘bout myself and there she was.
In platform double suede, yeah there she was.
Like a disco lemonade…

NOTE TO SELF: When tethering on your laptop, save your work more often than usual. Trust me, I’m you.

Now, let’s start again…

It’s a deceptively beautiful day out today. The sun is shining, it has been all day and cloud cover is only now starting to appear. The sky was a bright blue, the kind that makes you want to go outside and revel in the outdoors and all of nature’s glory, no matter what you’re activity of choice is. The deceptive part is that it’s –12 deg C outside and there’s a good breeze goin’ on too.

Aside from that, it’s been months since last I posted anything of significance, so I’ll try to fill in the gap because there were some bigger events in there.

You’ll be the voice in my head

It’s late and I should be asleep. I’m not just saying that. It’s just that I was thinking earlier and I can’t stop. I’ve made a change in what has become a large part of my life and left House of Elders.

Happy Father’s Day dad!

I know you will most likely not read this today, or anytime soon, But eventually you will. Just thought I’d post it anyways.

Don’t try to fix me, I’m not broken…

Hello, I am your mind giving you someone to talk to. Hello.

Unless of course it really WAS broken. Which it was. and after several days of no time to try and fix it, I tried, but to no avail. My “Sidebar” was stuck as part of the center column and I couldn’t find the code to return it to where it should be. I could move it above, below, and even amongst the posts on the main page, but not on the right, outside the white center column of this “Elegant Brit (b)” theme I love so much. Even worse, it was fine on some areas of the site, such as when one opened an individual post. Comparing the different php pages lead me to nothing. I looked at all the CSS. I even read the code generated on the client! My brain was ready to explode and I was getting angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.

Four flippin’ hours later, I’ve manually uninstalled WordPress, deleted my database, cleared the tables 6-7 times, edited my database tables, panicked, had a few drinks, installed 2 programs, restored my database information 5-6 times, explored tar balls and moved a cumulative 30-40MB of data back and forth through cyberspace, all to get back to where I was minus ONE problem. I can say that I have finally fixed the sidebar…sort of. I didn’t technically fix it, since I never found out what was wrong and undo it. I just rebuilt my blog from the ground up from various broken backup files and a hand written list of plugins versions.

Hey Mambo!

*Warning* My thoughts were kind of jumbled when writing this. I jump around a little.

Went for a ride to chocolate fest yesterday. It was such a gorgeous day, I could have ridden for hours. Of course Chocolatefest was also clogged with so many people not paying attention to the world around them, that I could have also clubbed people over the head for hours. M’eh.

I’m through standin’ in line to clubs I’ll never get in.

hooray! a post-birthday post…finally!
Yes, I know, I fail, I’ve accepted that. So should you.

Anyhoo…the 27th anniversary of my birthday was last week. I enjoyed myself thoroughly both on thursday and friday.

Sleep brings release, and the hope of a new day.

Now if I could just fall asleep for more than an hour at a time…

Anyhoo. My last ride was 3 weeks ago, as I’ve been out of town the last two weekends.

Travel time: 1:51:42
Total distance: 23.77mi
Average speed: 12.8mph
Max Speed: 31.3mph

I don’t remember most of the ride (since it’s been so long) except that I broke a spoke on my rear wheel while I was on the trail. The rear wheel wasn’t too terribly off true, but I don’t own the tools to take off my rear cassette. I made some minor adjustments to keep it from rubbing and called Glenview Cycle to check the hours and potential cost of the repair. I liked it, and I’ve been doing all my cycle business there lately, so I set out. Long story shorter, the repair man fixed my spoke and informed me that the spokes on that wheel were pretty tight. He advised that if it happens again this season I should replace the wheel now, but if not, do it at least before next season. I agreed, since it was the 3rd spoke to break on that wheel this year.

This past weekend I ventured up to Northern WI
