Hangin’ ‘round, downtown by myself, and I’ve had too much caffeine…

And I was thinkin’ ‘bout myself and there she was.
In platform double suede, yeah there she was.
Like a disco lemonade…

Now, let’s start again…

It’s a deceptively beautiful day out today. The sun is shining, it has been all day and cloud cover is only now starting to appear. The sky was a bright blue, the kind that makes you want to go outside and revel in the outdoors and all of nature’s glory, no matter what you’re activity of choice is. The deceptive part is that it’s –12 deg C outside and there’s a good breeze goin’ on too.

Aside from that, it’s been months since last I posted anything of significance, so I’ll try to fill in the gap because there were some bigger events in there.

October:

Went to Vegas with Keith, Jillian and Jackie. good fun. Nothing crazy, it’s not what we do, but we went out every day/night to somewhere something different. We ate at Firefly (the tapas restaurant in the Plaza) which was delicious, we got to go hiking/exploring/scrambling in Red Rock Canyon, shopping at the outlet mall, exploring through the Venetian and dining at the buffet in something near the Venetian, but with all the winding streets/hallways/parking garages, I can’t remember where the buffet was. All in all, it was a good time.

During the flights to/from Vegas, I listened to the audio book version of “World War Z” by Max Brooks. An excellent book. I highly recommend it to anyone who reads. It’s a great and realistic take on Zombies.

For Halloween, Jackie and I dressed with an NES theme. I was Mario, and she was Link. We Made/assemble our own costumes, and they were awesome. We went to Kimmy and Jonny’s (sp) party for Halloween, which was fun. There were some really good costumes, and lots of yummy snacks.

November:

Thanksgiving was spent in McHenry with Jackie’s family, at her parents’ house. The food was delicious and I ate too much, both as usual, and we celebrated Jackie’s birthday by watching her open her prizes. Yay!

December:

Christmas was spent up North with my family. Before the trip, I wanted to have Blue checked out to make sure there wasn’t anything really wrong with the transmission. I took her in for a free visual inspection and they informed me that the tires were getting low on tread, but that all of the general stuff was ok otherwise. I told them about the shifting problems I’ve been experiencing and scheduled for further troubleshooting to be done. Ended up needing a new transmission. I’d like to take this time to thank my warranty and MINI for the factory coverage of maintenance and drive train hardware failure. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time to replace it before I left, so I ended up with a loaner MINI. It was a Sparkling Silver MINI Cooper S Convertible. Automatic transmission and the cold weather package. It was fun on the open road, and in moderate traffic, but it was a bit too hesitant but powerful for stop and go driving. When I had a chance to “stretch my leg”, it could get up and go. With the sport button pushed, it felt more like a sports car than a sub compact 4 cylinder. And, despite it being winter and there being several feet of snow on the ground, my mom and I drove around town with the top down, just for giggles. :-).

Before I left, since she couldn’t come with, Jackie and I exchanged gifts. I got her a Solar Sun Jar, solar powered sun colored LED in a Frosted jar. It’s photosensitive, so it’s off and inconspicuous when it’s light out, but as soon as the lights go out, it glows an orange best described as the color of a fire. It’s awesome. Jackie got me a Wii. It’s awesome, and something I’ve always wanted, since they came out. She told everyone what she got me and I got several accessories too, including but not limited to the coolest charging station ever (Nyko Charging station).

January:

New Years was enjoyed at Evan’s house. Best Game of Jenga, ever. There’s a picture in Jackie’s Facebook you should check out if you can. It was a brutal game :-).

The rest of January has been pretty busy, little time to get much of my personal projects taken care of. I’ve been working out when I don’t get home too late. Perhaps I should workout no matter late it is, just so that I workout…I’ve been needing to make Granola for weeks. I keep supplementing my breakfast with store bought granola which is way more expensive and not as tasty with yogurt as mine is.

I’ve been trying to keep enough online time in WOW/LOTRO, but with my schedule fluctuating, and not active raiding anymore, there hasn’t been a good Time:Motivation ratio to get me on regularly. I’ve become a weekend warrior.

in regards to all of this, I have come to a thought that I’d like to give more purpose to my blog than a journal. I’ve often tossed around the ideas of tutorials, reviews, commentaries, etc. as some things to write, as a way to be more interactive and give more reason to read than to get updates on what I’ve been doing lately. Have any thoughts? I’m always open to suggestions, just put them in a comment :-).

That’s all for this post, me thinks.
