Layla, you’ve got me my knees. I’m beggin…
Another birthday has come and gone. I’m anther full year older, and just a little bigger.
This year, I celebrated my birthday up north at my Mom’s house. I realized that even though I miss the snow and hills, my life is easier without being burried under 200-300″ a season. What I do need more of (besides cowbell) is regular snowboarding. I’ve used my current board less than a handful of times, and iirc, I bought it in spring of 2006. Needless to say, I can hear it crying in the closet sometimes.
That said, Jackie and I got out this past weekend for a few hours at Mt. Zion in Ironwood. We started late, and had to go to Hobby Wheel to get some missing things, but it was a lot of fun. No major injuries, and Jackie got to work on her toe-edge technique. She did very well. Hopefully she’ll get some more practice on it before she forgets it all and has to start over. I was a bit rusty, feeling exactly as if it was only my third time in as many years. By the time we were done, two things were clear to me: 1. It’s a good thing I’ve been working out or I’d have really hurt myself, and 2. I need to ride more so I can adjust my stance better.
Thughout the ride, I could feel muscles in use that I usually only feel after a workout. Had I not been exercising, it’s that I’d have pulled something. And, during the third run, my right knee started to hurt. Analyzing the pain and how it fluctuated with my movements, I think I need to adjust my stance narrower. The way it twists during a left heel edge turns was just beyond tolerance.
I other news, today is Vivaldi’s birthday as well as the writer of http://whilepooping.com.
that’s all for now! Have a happy Thursday!
